We know we are a little late with this post but we think we should still show you some of the things we saw at this years Clerkenwell Design Week.  We were really busy with our own little contribution to the event (see previous post) but we still found some time to have a look around and meet some old friends.

Light years Aeon Rocket Pendant Light
Designer Morten Voss has put together aluminium and polypropylene to create this futuristic pendant light for Danish producer Light Years.  The top part of the shade is aluminium while the part below is made from eight ribbons of polypropylene which create 100 openings allowing the light to flow through.  We love it and think It does look a little like an engine from a Sci-Fi movie, the word Aeon means eternity so maybe this is set to become a future classic.  Available from August in two sizes Ø40 or Ø60cm.

Magis Troy Chair
We are really keen on the Troy chair from Magis designed by Marcel Wanders.  Its generous proportions make it super comfortable and the original with its relief pattern on the back was an interesting detail which feminised the design and made it stand out from a lot of contemporary design.  On the Magis stand they had the new upholstered Troy arm chair in this midnight blue with black frame, our tired legs really appreciated the sit down.  The material flex and depth of upholstery give just the right amount of comfort while maintaining its clean lines.

Anglepoise Type 75 Maxi Pendant Light
On the very top floor of the Farmiloe building was the lighting department.  One of the main attractions was the Anglepoise stand and the new interpretation of the classic Type75 table lamp in a special edition by Paul Smith. We expect that this limited edition will be very popular but while all eyes were fixed on this we spotted something that was a little more FunktionAlley.  The Type 75 Maxi Pendant has the classic industrial styling of Anglepoise and a really nice detail at the top which allows the light to escape.  This Pendant is due out September and we think it’s going to be a favourite in kitchens, cafes and bars for years to come. Available September in three colours white, black and grey.
