This years Design Junction took place in a new venue, the former Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design and Victoria House on Southampton Row.  We had the pleasure of working with our friends Northern Lighting whose stand was in prime location near the entrance, in the old principles office.  While the building made for some difficult navigation, it was a really cool unique exhibition.

Northern Lighting presented several of their new Un Plugged range which is a selection of candle holders designed to offer a mood altering alternative to electric lighting. Our favourites are the Oblique designed by resident designer Rudi Wulff and Fyr designed by Noemi and Vibeke Star.

Also presented was this new floor lamp by Morten Skjærpe Knarrum and Jonas Norheim.  Its named Me because its designed to be a personal light for those quiet alone moments reading in your favourite chair.  The stem is made from Silicone so soft to the touch and has seamless articulation to direct the light.

One of the stars of their show was Norwegian Designer Birger Dahl 1916-1998.  Two of his lamps were on display, Birdy in the new Grey and Dokka in the new anniversary colours.  Northern Lighting have produced three posters to celebrate (and promote) Dahl’s work and they all proved to be really popular.

Over at Victoria house the main attraction was the installation ‘a childs dream’  where 21 Eames Elephants donated by Vitra had been customised by world renowned designers such as Terrance Woodgate and CKR. All the Elephants are to be auctioned off after the show. The money raised will go to Teddy’s Wish to aid research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.  Our favourite was the mammoth by Philippe Malouin and the grey leather upholstered version by CKR.
