We seem to have forgotten about black.  At one time this was a staple colour which we could add to any decor to either compliment or make a statement.  Over the last few years producers and customers seem to have become obsessed with grey but over the last few weeks we have noticed that Black is Back.

Presented at Milan design week is the Lightyears Caravaggio Pendant in Matt Black.  The original Caravaggio was launched 10 years ago and was very popular.  Light Years launched Matt white and grey a few years later and these three have taken over in popularity from the gloss finishes (in our shop anyway) and we expect that matt black will prove equally popular.

Spanish producer STUA launched their black and white frames for their furniture range a while ago and have added the black version of the Onda bar stool.  Unlike the white monochrome stool this one does have the rubberised seat that makes it so unique.

One of our favourite stands at Clerkenwell design week was the Magis stand.  Magis products are always a joy to see, the pictures of them don't really do them justice and show the quality and attention to detail.

We particularly loved the Naoto Fakasawa chair called Substance which is characteristically understated.

The other stand out piece was the Steelwood range which is now available in Walnut and Black.  The combination of the rich coloured wood and precision engineering that goes into creating the frames make these pieces a joy to own.  You can see Steelwood chair in Walnut and Black at our Yorkshire showroom.
