For the Day We Can All Get Together and Celebrate - Part 2
Having spent the last few weeks adjusting to our new ‘norm’ now lockdown has lifted, it’s important not to lose those moments we’ve enjoyed with our families during this difficult period. Spending time together with your significant other and/or your children has been a great by product of the lockdown. It’s given us all time to think and reflect, to treasure the time we’ve been given and to not forget this and make a real effort to carry on when lockdown is a distant memory! With that being said, blog - part two is all about making sure we don’t take for granted the time we get with our close family. To make mealtimes special and come together and talk, laugh and enjoy family life! We have chosen two rounded tables we think would work very well. These tables can be used every day, to ensure you and your household can enjoy mealtimes, every time, together!
Some of the great advantages of having a smaller rounded table means there are no corners, it creates more space so people can walk around and get to their seat. A round table is very well suited to a formal style dining room as well as a more open floor plan where the dining area is off to the side in a larger room. Which makes it a very adaptable choice and piece of furniture. Flow is very important as you and those who will sit at your table not only need the space for placing their meals, homework, games, or materials, but the space around the table to comfortably move and find the location where they want to sit.
The Gubi Dining Table – Round is designed 2013 by Komplot Design and is a sleek design with the chamfered top and laminated tapered legs matches perfectly with the Gubi Beetle or 3D chair with wooden legs. Available in oak, walnut or black stained ash. Both the table and the chairs are now in our sale and you will find them by following the link below.
The Gubi Dining Table will provide a better use of space in a smaller area so that there is less bumping or crowding when trying to sit down. In addition, there are no sharp corners to get caught when trying to get to the other side!
The 3D chair designed by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen of Komplot Design is a winner of several prestigious design awards and is on permanent exhibition at (MoMA) in New York. This simple looking chair is surprisingly complicated to produce. Original designed in 2003 it utilises molded 3D veneer, making it light, strong and tactile. The chair is now also available in HiRek, a recyclable multi-layer plastic which is both light and strongly resistant against bending and pressure. A perfect partner for the Gubi Dining Table.
Another great reason to consider a rounded table is to encourage intimacy as you can sit a little closer to your partner or child. It’s a more modern approach to dining than a square table and makes it much easier to eat, chat and leisurely enjoy a meal. It’s interesting that in Feng Shui, a round dining table is said to create positive energy and encourage a sense of unity between those around the table due to the single curved edge around the table. As opposed to hard angles that may separate those at the table. It also means that round dining tables are great for families with young children who frequently play around the table, due to there being no hard corners they might bump their head on!
Our next offering is the Fritz Hansen Super Elliptical Table. Again, part of our sale right now and is also accompanied by the Fritz Hansen Drop Chair.
The Super-Elliptical table, was inspired by the designer Piet Hein’s solution to a traffic problem at Sergels Torg in Stockholm: A super elliptical roundabout. This variation of an oval possessed some attractive qualities and looked surprisingly harmonious no matter the size. The modernist table comes in several matt laminate finishes with an aluminium edge and powder coated legs giving a refined industrial finish. In order to produce a table of excellent quality and durability Fritz Hansen has selected Fenix laminate which is resistant to scratches is super matt, very easily cleaned, and does not reveal any fingerprints.
In 2014, Fritz Hansen relaunched the Drop chair with a new fresh design. Since its launch the chair has had a great success thanks to its simple design and comfort. Being made from plastic it also a relatively inexpensive classic design. The bases can be either chrome or powder coated to match the seat.
We can also supply a wide range of fabric and leather upholstery options on the Fritz Hansen Drop Chair, please contact us for more details.
Two great options, so we can continue a great trend we’ve all seen since lockdown began. Spending more quality time with our families. A wonderful thing to come out of such a dark time for our country and the world. Keep up the good work everyone! We’re in this together…
