This season, this iconic Arne Jacobsen design has been reimagined and carefully curated in collaboration with Carla Sozzani. Each colour has been developed to not only to complement the natural materials of the designs, but to also complement each other. Fritz Hansen have always had the belief that nothing beats truly great design. Design that, beyond function and form, serves a bigger purpose by colouring your home and everyday life. Quite literally! Carla Sozzani was brought in and asked to collaborate on this design because of the decades she spent within the fashion and international art scene.

She has spent years working as an Italian editor, gallerist and entrepreneur.  She has been breaking the mould and pioneering within fashion and culture for decades. As editor-in-chief for iconic magazines such as Italian Vogue, American Vogue in Italy and Italian Elle, Sozzani’s influence within the publishing industry isn’t limited to the printed page. As the founder of the contemporary concept store, 10 Corso Como, Sozzani’s entrepreneurial spirit and unique, artistic philosophy inspires design enthusiasts from Milan to Seoul.

Head designer at Fritz Hansen, Christian Andressen explains that because of her experience as a sculpture, she understands the feel of this design and how colours work well on organic shapes.  She’s also able to draw upon her decades of experience in the fashion industry and approached these colours how she approaches colours in fashion.  Understanding where colours come from gave her a unique perspective when working on this design.  She hasn’t just picked blue or green but used every day colours seen in nature and fashion to make this design what it is today.  From Pale Rose to Midnight Blue the Shell Colours will inject a vibrant colour into your dining room.  Yet including a more classic colour pallet like the Base Colours range from white to warm graphite.  Will ensure there really is a shade for all tastes and decor.

Here are Funktion Alley we always want to bring you something new, different, yet still stays true to the classic brands we’ve always loved to work with.  The new Sense of Colour range for the Grand Prix, Ant and Series 7, encompasses all of the things we love to see.  I think sometimes if we’re really honest we can be a little afraid of bold colours.  This is an excellent way of injecting some much needed colour into a dining room without having to fully commit to walls!
