LYFA Governor Floor Lamp

The Governor Floor lamp is a sophisticated, mid-century lamp that was designed by Danish architect-designer Bent Karlby. Since 1956, it has proved to carry an enduring appeal with design lovers around the world.  Governor is crafted from solid brass and walnut and provides an efficient and diffused downlight due to its reflective brass shade. Combined with its warm materials, Governor truly creates a cosy atmophere in any interior space.

Bent Karlby came to lighting design late in his career and was until fairly recently more widely known for his involvment within the decorative arts field. Karlby is widely regarded today as one of Denmark's most productive and versatile lighting designers of the 20th century. He is known for his soft light, organic shapes and hallmark peepholes and later moved more towards geometric shapes and playful colours. His lighting designs date from the late 1950s to early 1970s with his portfolio including several of Lyfa's most sought after designs.
